FEATURED MINING COMPANY
EVRAZ GROUP
RUSSIA
Vysokogorsky Iron Ore Mines: is located near Nizhny Tagil, approximately 10 km from NTMK and 120 km north of Ekaterinburg. VGOK develops Vysokogorskoye, Lebyazhinskoye, Yestyuninskoye and Goroblagodatskoye iron ore deposits. It is one of the largest mining enterprises in the Urals.
VGOK mines and enriches iron
ore and produces several types of sinter, limestone, natural stone and other products.
VGOK supplies finished products to Evraz’s steel plants, primarily NTMK, as well as to third parties. The plant’s development programme of up to 2020 provides for annual iron ore production of up to 4 million tons at its open-pit and underground mines.
VGOK’s mineral resources are enough to last for several decades ahead.
In 2009, VGOK mined 4.2 million tons of iron ore and produced 1.2 million tons of sinter. Production of new finished products was launched in 2009: VGOK produced 1.3 million tons of concentrate, 817.1 thousand tons of staflux, and 87.9 thousand tons of converter sinter.
Evrazruda: comprises of a number of ore mining and ore enrichment enterprises in Kemerovo Region (Tashtagolsky, Kazsky, Sheregeshsky and Gurevsky iron ore mines, Abagurskaya Sinter and Enrichment Plant, Mundybashskaya Enrichment Plant), in the Republic of Khakassia (Abakansky and Teisky Mines), and in the south of Krasnoyarsk Territory (Irbinsky Mine).
Evrazruda coordinates budgeting, and programmes of the industrial and economic development of these enterprises. Evrazruda occupies a total area of over 4,400 hectares, and sells iron ore primarily to ZapSib and NKMK.
In 2009, Evrazruda’s output was almost 5 million tons, including 4.5 million tons of concentrate and 0.4 million tons of sinter.
Yuzhkuzbassugol: is Russia’s leading producer of coking coal.
In 2009, Yuzhkuzbassugol produced more than 14 million tons of coal, including 71% of coking coal.
As of January 1, 2007, total proved and probable coal reserves were estimated by IMC Consulting at 888 million tons. The Company includes 22 enterprises, including 10 coal mines (Abashevskaya, Alardinskaya, Gramoteinskaya, Yesaulskaya, Osinnikovskaya, Tomskaya, Yubileinaya, Tagaryshskaya, Kusheyakovskaya, Yerunakovskaya VIII), two enrichment plants and 10 servicing entities.
Yuzhkuzbassugol underground mines account for 16% of the total coal output in Kuzbass and 13% in Russia. Coking coal represents 71% of
the company’s total production by volume, or 14.2% of Kuzbass coking coal production. The remainder is production of steam coal.
The company supplies its coking coal to most of the leading steel and by-product coke plants in Russia and the CIS. Evraz’s steel mills, Zapsib and NKMK, are major consumers of Yuzhkuzbassugol’s production.
ELDORADO GOLD
TURKEY
Kişladağ Gold Mine: is located 180 km east of Izmir and 350 km southwest of Ankara, in Uşak Province. Initial mining at Kişladağ was carried out by a local contractor using conventional earth-moving equipment. An owner-operated fleet of 150 ton haul trucks and equivalent loading equipment was brought into operation in Q3 in 2008.
CHINA
Tanjianshan Gold Mine: is located in the Dachaidan Region, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, northwest China. Tanjianshan is mined by conventional open pit methods using contract equipment. In 2011, we plan to process 1.0 million tons of ore at 4.04 g/t Au. Mining will continue from the Jinlonggou (JLG) open pit at a strip ratio of 2.56:1.
Jinfeng Gold Mine: is located in China's southern Guizhou Province, 236 km south-west of the provincial capital Guiyang.
Initial mining of ore was from the Jinfeng open pit. Ore is now being sourced concurrently from the open pit and the underground mine.
BRAZIL
Vila Novairon ore mine: is located 175 km west of Macapá, the capital of Amapá state in north-eastern Brazil. It consists of an open pit mine and ore processing facility producing lump ore and sinter fines.
In August 2009, the remaining 25% interest of the Vila Nova Iron ore Project was acquired from Mineracao Amapari and we now own 100% of the project.
